Ate Kleng's Birthday Celebration

It was Ate Kleng's birthday yesterday so she had a little lunch party at home today. We had delicious food! I ate so much. Haha. Ate Kleng made Beef Caldereta! She used the part of the beef where there were 'litid'. I don't know what you call them in English but they were so tender! Shrimp with Mixed Vegetables. As I mentioned in my last entry, frozen shrimps in Singapore are always so sweet and firm to the bite! I love this dish! Grilled Chicken BBQ. We have a stove top griller here that we use to grill chicken, It always makes the meat juicy! I used some Reyes BBQ sauce with it. It was so good! That's Ayn helping Ate Kleng light the candle! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, happy birthday... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! Yey! Happy birthday! Fruit Cake from Bengawan Solo @ S$28-30 each. The icings from this bakeshop is always so good! This particular vanilla cake has a lemony taste that refreshes the mouth! Yummy! Last shot before heading ba

Satay @ Lau Pa Sat

Last Monday, I was able to persuade Ayn to go swimming with me since I had a "bring a friend" coupon for the gym. We finished around 9:30PM and were starving! Since every restaurant near the gym was closed, we decided to go to Lau Pa Sat instead. I was really craving for Satay since Atsi and I went there early this month so we decided to eat them again! We decided to get the XS Package which has 20 assorted sticks for S$12.00. We each added S$1.00 each for the rice! I really like the sauce that comes with the Satay. I think it's made with peanuts. Writing about this now is making me hungry!! There are a lot of stalls selling Satay but I think the best one is from Stall 7 because of their 'awards'. BTW, the Satay stalls only open at night around 6PM!

New Food Discoveries

Lemon Chicken Rice @ S$4.50: I had this when my officemates and I had lunch at Mei Hua. This was horrible! The chicken was not crispy and it tasted like it was fried in old oil. The Hainanese Rice did not suit the chicken and there was too little sauce. Very disappointing! Mr. Bean Grass Jelly @ S$2.20 and Blueberry Pancake @ S$1.20: I wanted Pearly Iced Milk Tea for breakfast one morning but apparently, it opens at 9:30AM so I was too early! I had no choice but to go to Mr. Bean and buy the Grass Jelly Drink and some pancake. The drink was a bit bitter. It needs more syrup! The pancake, however, was still very warm and the blueberry oozes out when bitten. I really liked it! Thai Smiles' Beef Hofan @ S$4.50: Rej ordered this during one of our lunchouts this week. I think she said this was good! Thai Smiles' Olive Rice Claypot @ S$4.50: I wanted to order something new besides the noodles and beef so I got this. At first I thought the 'olive' in the name meant real olives

Delicious TUSILOG for Sunday Brunch

TU-SI-LOG: This dish consists of TU yo (Dried Salted Fish), SI ngangag (Garlic Rice) and It LOG (Egg). I was trying to ransack our refrigerator and pantry last Sunday for leftover ingredients that we can use for brunch since we have not done our grocery for the coming week. Fortunately, I found out that we still have so Tuyo (Dried Salted Fish) from when I came back here last January. I also brought back some Salted Eggs this February. I fried the rice with some garlic and we had an amazing Filipino breakfast! To make it more authentic, Ayn and I used our hands to eat. I even made some Tang Orange Juice! We each had 3 pieces of fish and an egg. It was really good! You might notice that the rice is a bit soggy. The reason is because I used freshly cooked rice when the usual practice was to use day-old rice. Definitely a breakfast to remember!

Food Trips with Atsi

Atsi and I visited No Signboard in Esplanade. She said it's the best meal she had in Singapore! Delicious Cereal Prawns! It's so crunchy that you can eat the WHOLE thing!! Chili Crab with Mantou. As usual, this is still the best Chili Crab in Singapore! We also had dinner at the Imperial Restaurant in Vivo City on our last night here before heading back to Manila for my vacation. The service was great but they charge you for everything! Even the appetizer they put on your table without you ordering it and their service water! I forgot the name of this dish but it had tofu and mushrooms in it. I guess it was okay. It went well with rice. This was Pork with Marmite Sauce. It was surprisingly delicious! I have never tasted Marmite before because.. it's yeast! Haha. But we loved this dish. Xiao Long Bao. In a sentence, NOTHING LIKE DIN TAI FUNG!! It tasted like the dumplings from Mey Lin which was good but not that passable for Xiao Long Bao. Before going to the airport, we we

Food Frenzy in Genting Island

Atsi, Ayn and I went to Genting last February 6-7 for a short vacation. We took the Alisan Bus Express to Genting, which took 6 hours, including stop overs. The bus ride was very comfortable as the seats were sleepers. I don't know why I don't have pictures of the bus but I think Atsi has some in her FB Account. I'll try to upload some pictures in this blog soon. Anyway, below are some of the food that we ate in Genting. The prices there are double from the normal hawkers in Malaysia but I guess it's okay because you ARE in a resort! Haha. Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls with Peanut Sauce. This is my absolute favorite Vietnamese dish. I used to buy these from the Salcedo Market every Sunday in Makati. Anyway, I really like this dish! The vegetables were fresh and crunchy! Atsi ordered the Braised Beef with Rice. The beef was very tender and tasty but it wasn't that extraordinary! I like the sauce though. :) Ayn ordered the Seafood Coconut something (Haha we can't reme

My New Babies!

I got 'Sexy' when Ayn and I went to the Zara sale last December. I got her for only.. Are you ready for this? S$15!! She was the last pair and was exactly my size so I just didn't put her down anymore! My next baby, 'Sparkly' was from the John Little Sale. I got her for just S$23! Amazingly, my feet fit like, 3 different sizes of this shoe; so It's just really meant to be! Haha.
