Cowrie Grill by Manila Hotel

Of all the steak houses here in the Philippines, Cowrie Grill has always been my favorite. Aside from their tender, perfectly cooked steaks, they also have a great service. No request too big for their diners.

My sister, Cla, and I had lunch there the day after my birthday because she was not able to attend my celebratory dinner the night before.

I developed an appreciation for cheese when I went to London for training last year so I decidedly to try their cheese platter. This was listed under their dessert menu but I think this is more than what anyone can finish after a full meal.

The cheeses available were Goat, Brie, Roquefort, Oveja and Gruyere. It also has dried fruits - cranberries, raisins and apricots - cashew nuts and grapes! I loved the goat cheese and gruyere. Never really liked soft cheeses so Brie was meh. Cla asked for some honey and it brought everything to a whole new level.

Someone looks happy!

I was too! I was going to get my wisdom tooth extracted later that afternoon so I was determined to EAT MY HEART OUT! Haha.

Caesar salad is a-must! We never eat here and not order this salad. They make it right in front of your table. Very very yummy!

I ordered their Salmon Steak. I usually order their Ribeye but I was craving for some well-grilled fish. Perfectly cooked down to the vegetables!

Cla ordered the New York Cut. This is only half. The steak is so big that we always split it into two. Our younger sister, Camille, was also joining us. The steak came with mashed potato, which was very creamy.

As always, everything was wonderful! Beautiful place, beautiful food and beautiful service. Bring your special someones here!

Hospital Cheat Sheets

Hello mommies! Sorry I have been busy trying to balance spending quality time with my baby, the pastry shop @joaniescupcakes and our newly launched online store, Petit Bébé PH.  Check out our IG and FB pages if you have time, @petitbebeph. 😍 Anyway, a lot as been asking about the hospital lists that I made for my delivery so here they are! As some of you might know, I am quite OC about paperwork and I have no pain tolerance so I really wanted to make sure that my doctors did not miss anything about my medical history. I was also confined 3x during my pregnancy. This is why I wanted to make sure that my list is detailed so we could avoid mistakes. Information Sheet This is the information sheet that I made. I consulted my OB prior to my delivery about the things that will be asked during check in/ labor. The text is RED are things you need to fill out on the way to the hospital as you might not have enough time to print them when you start contracting. Birth Plan ...

Eating at Home

Reg and I have been trying to lose weight to better control our sugar intake. We ate out a lot when I was still pregnant so he gained "pregnancy pounds" as well. Haha! I have been going to the supermarket to buy 3 weeks worth of dinners the past 2 months and I have been making weekly menu plans to help us achieve our goal. Honestly, I have always felt lazy to do this menu because the meats available at the grocery varies every week. I tend to buy what looks good so I can't stick to 1 set of menu come marketing time. First, let's start with the supermarket. We are closer to Unimart Greenhills but I feel that prices there are higher and there are times when their stock delivery is delayed. I always end up not being able to buy everything that I need. In order for this menu planning to succeed, I now go to my trusty Landmark Supermarket in Trinoma. I used to shop there when I was still single but I stopped going when I moved after getting married because I hated the ...

Giving Up

There are things in life that makes you want to give up. Don't get me wrong, I'm not currently depressed. 😅 I was out with my mom the other day and chanced upon a dance store. For some reason, I always try to look for a white tutu even when I don't plan to buy one. You see, when I was in Prep-1, I joined a dance program in school. The teacher told us to bring white tutus and white ballet shoes. My parents and I scoured many SM Department Stores but all we could find were pink tutus and shoes. Remember that this was in the 90's so there were limited malls in Metro Manila. The usual next step is to go back to school and tell my teacher that it was impossible to find one, right? Well, that's what all of my classmates did. My parents? Impossible was (and still is) not in their vocabulary. My mom designed and sewed an all-white ballet ensemble just for me! I was the only one who came to class with what the teacher asked us to bring. Everyone else brought pink. And even ...
