I ate the lunch I brought yesterday for breakfast this morning because I was staving! Christine and Iris are on leave today so it's just me and Rej for lunch. Since this week is tipid (saving) mode, we decided to have lunch at Banquet instead. Banquet is an air-conditioned hawker center at the basement of The Arcade. The food there are still cheap but more expensive than the usual hawker centers found near the HDBs.
Rej ordered Punggol Mee Goreng @ S$4.00. This is her absolute favorite because she always orders this when we eat there. It sort of looks like Pansit Canton (the real one, not the Lucky Me ones!) because they used yellow noodles. She said it's very tasty - you can actually taste the flavor of the shrimp and squid ont he noodles.
I ordered Popiah @ S$1.80 per roll. This is the first time I have tasted Popiah and I have two words to describe it.. Lumpiang Ubod! The only difference is that the sauce is already inside. Thank you, Auntie for allowing me to take your photo!
A closer look.
Tada! The finished product!
I used some chili sauce to give it a little kick because I opted to exclude it from the Popiah itself.
And for dessert, Iced Milk Tea! Although there was something wrong with the pearls today. They were underdone and were sticking together!
Next food on my list: Murtabak!! :D
